Baity Palestinian Kitchen
Tucked away in the heart of Didsbury, Baity Palestinian Kitchen at 743 Wilmslow Rd brings an unmistakable warmth and depth of tradition to Manchester’s vibrant food scene. If you're someone who appreciates bold Middle Eastern flavours with a modern, homestyle twist, this is the spot you’ll want to keep returning to.
What immediately stands out is the sense of authenticity. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the aroma of sumac, cardamom, and slow-cooked meats wafting through the air. The team at Baity Palestinian Kitchen has mastered the art of transforming humble ingredients into dishes packed with history and soul.
Take their Maqluba, for example-a layered rice dish with vegetables and tender meat flipped upside down before serving. It’s a celebration on a plate. The Jericho Lamb Chops, marinated to perfection, are juicy and rich, complemented beautifully with a side of Fattoush Salad for a fresh, crunchy contrast. For those who prefer lighter bites, the Mutabbal (a smoky eggplant dip) and Falafel offer vegetarian-friendly satisfaction without compromising flavour.
If you’re exploring plant-based options, the Vegan Musakhan is a must-try. With caramelised onions, sumac, and spices layered over flatbread, it's hearty, zesty, and surprisingly indulgent. On the weekends, the restaurant ups the game with its Sunday Roast Lamb, an East-meets-West take on a British classic. Slow-roasted until fall-off-the-bone tender, it’s served with seasonal vegetables and Palestinian spices-comforting and unforgettable.
The menu at Baity Palestinian Kitchen doesn’t stop at mains. Desserts deserve a spotlight too. The Kunafa Cheesecake bridges tradition and innovation with its delicate crispy topping and creamy base. It’s not overly sweet, which makes it dangerously easy to love. Pair it with a strong cup of Arabic coffee, and you’ve got yourself the perfect ending to any meal.
In terms of service, Baity offers a full range of options. Whether you're in for a relaxed dine-in experience, a quick takeaway, or delivery to your doorstep, they've got it all covered-including no-contact delivery for added convenience. They also cater for special events, making it easy to bring a taste of Palestine to your private gatherings.
This family-friendly spot is known for being inclusive too. With gender-neutral toilets, vegetarian dishes, and free water refills, Baity strikes the right balance between thoughtful hospitality and practicality. You'll also find halal options throughout the menu, making it an inclusive dining choice for many.
The Taouk Chicken Wings bring a kick of spice and charred smokiness, while dishes like the Maftool Salad (Palestinian couscous) showcase texture and subtlety. Meanwhile, small plates such as Patatas Bravas and Kebab with Fried Rice offer cross-cultural comfort food that’s perfect for sharing.
Whether you’re stopping by for a soulful lunch, settling in for a full dinner with friends, or simply popping in to pick up some falafel on the go, Baity Palestinian Kitchen doesn’t just serve food-it tells a story. Every plate comes with a rich culinary heritage, woven into the vibrant, modern rhythm of Manchester dining.
Reviews
A restaurant we were very hopeful for, we had received many recommendations and heard very good things of Baity Palestinian Kitchen. The decor is nice and relaxed, it feels welcoming, the front of house staff were good if a little indifferent. The food was very good on the whole, with 2 excellent dishes and 2 mediocre ones. Will happily eat here again if going with friends but if looking for the best of Middle Eastern food I would venture elsewhere.
Hidden gem! We had the Lamb Maqluba, Musakhan Chicken, Batata Harra and Zatar Sweet Tato's - was hoping to try the kunafa but we were far too full. The starters were the highlight for me and to be honest, very generous portions ! Great service and looking forward to returning again!
Small intimate setting. Amazing food that tasted genuinely home-made and authentic. The chicken musakhan is what they’re known for and it was tender and flavourful. Be warned it has a LOT of onions and it was a bit too overpowering for me. Was hoping to try the kunafa as it looked really good but was too full…will have to come back!
Middle Eastern cuisine is just not shawarma and kebabs, there is a lot lot more to it and this restaurant is the perfect place to be introduced to other flavours. Location - The place is right on the main streets of Didsbury. A little walk from tram station but it isn’t inaccessible. Ambiance- Clean and minimal aesthetics. Not a fancy fine fine interiors but it is beautifully decorated and serves the purpose. Food- They are serving a niche market by not serving kebab wraps and rolls but providing authentic Middle Eastern flavours. Every single dish we ordered was mind blowing. The spice levels were perfect and the food wasn’t greasy. I really loved every bite of my meal and to my surprise, there were plenty of vegetarian options as well. Loved the place and surely will be visiting to try more dishes
First time visiting Baity. Very nice interior decor and a calming ambience. Nice selection on menu. We tried the Zuhura Tea with Honey which was very nice. For mains we had the Maqluba with lamb and Masakhan (award winning) - both were amazing. The lamb in the Maqluba was tender and rice flavourful. The bread in the Masakhan was amazingly soft, chicken was great with the onion jam. We had the Kenafa Cheesecake for dessert. Overall great experience and we'd come back to try the small plates next time. I'd recommend Baity to all, very nice restaurant in Didsbury.
